Step Up for Students with Unique Abilities

  • Play Strong is proud to work with Step Up for Students, a state-approved Florida scholarship program that helps families of children with autism or other special needs access funding for approved educational and therapeutic services. Eligible families can use these funds toward Play Strong swim lessons focused on safety, confidence, and skill development.

  • Families who receive the Family Empowerment Scholarship (Unique Abilities) may qualify for reimbursement. Play Strong provides all necessary documentation and receipts to ensure an easy submission process through Step Up.

    1. Families pay Play Strong directly for lessons.

    1. We issue a detailed invoice and receipt for each session.

    2. Parents upload the documents to their Step Up for Students account.

    3. Step Up reimburses eligible families once the claim is reviewed and approved.

  • Financial assistance for swim instruction for children with Down syndrome or other disabilities. Designed to improve water safety and develop swimming skills through structured lessons

    • Child has Down syndrome or another qualifying disability

    • Florida resident (confirm region when you contact them)

    • Family demonstrates financial need

    • Must commit to consistent attendance with Play Strong as per the requirements

    1. Families complete a short application and provide documentation of eligibility

    2. Funds are paid directly to Play Strong and cover a set number of sessions

    3. Families must meet attendance requirements to maintain support
